My name is Cesar Pozo , very proud alum, St. John’s class of 09 . St. John’s has been trying to make homecoming into a big event , and last year I was able to put together the first ever homecoming 3 on 3 Basketball tournament to raise scholarship money for students at St. John’s .

I was able to raise $39,682 in scholarship money , and I am proud to announce we will giving out our first scholarships to students at this years tournament . I had around 76 players and 25 teams at last years event. If you missed it take a look at the event last year with the link below .

I invite you to this years tournament . $50 to play . Teams of 4 are picked random . 1st place , 2 nd place 3 rd place trophies , plus the Mark Jackson MVP trophy . All proceeds go towards the scholarship . To sign up click the link below

This will be up on the St. John’s alumni events page this coming week .

Eugene Lawrence (04-08) Liam Biesty (04-08) Malik Boothe (07-11) have all confirmed to be there for the opening ceremonies . Working with Mike Cragg and a few other people to get more names to come .

Any questions you can , pm, email- cpozojr@gmail.com , or text/call 347-403-0804 me .

You do not have to be an Alumni to play , all you have to do is love St. John’s .

If you don’t want to play com enjoy October fest with the family . Food , beer , activities for the kids , best Halloween costume wins a prize , right next to the tournament . Come stop by and check out the tournament

For those that play at any capacity , my question to you is why would you not play ?

Either way , hope to see many of you on campus on October 29th because from that day forward St John’s University will never , ever be the same EVER again .

I’m a huge St. John’s tan as most of us here are. Some are more reserved than others. I met Cesar at last years golf outing and he spoke of this event and I am not sure there is a St. John’s fan with more energy than what this guy has!!! A true fan through and through!!

I would play if it was half court 20 on 20 but my stamina absolutely sucks ass so I won’t be playing. I’m not good either lol. But I will try to get to the festivities if available.

Over $20,000 raised (so far) in scholarship money for students at St Johns University . Over $60,000 raised in less than two years . Proud to announce that the student has been selected for the Balance Leader scholarship and it will be awarded at this years tournament.

Eugene Lawrence, Mercedes Dukes , Anthony Glover, Otoja Abit, Matt A , Barbara Rapp, Coach JoJo will all be at the opening ceremonies. More names to come

Over 100 players have already signed up to play in the 3 on 3 homecoming Basketball tournament . If you aren't doing anything, and you love to hoop come play ! I was able to secure items from your favorite sports teams across New York to be raffled outside as well.

Injured ? don't feel like playing ? Don't worry there is a 3 point shooting contest that starts at 12 pm in Taffner from the College of Tobin Globe Program. $25 buy in , $500 First Place Prize, $300 Second Place Prize, $200 Third Place Prize. Prizes awarded as Amazon Gift Cards at the end of the competition. All proceeds helps support the Globe program.

About the Program:

St. John’s The Peter J. Tobin College of Business Global Microloan Program actively engages students in microfinance while fulfilling St. John’s Catholic and Vincentian mission of helping the poor and the marginalized. In the Vincentian tradition, the program, named GLOBE (Global Loan Opportunities for Budding Entrepreneurs) aims to help the poor help themselves by boosting the earning capacity of entrepreneurs while also serving the needs of their local communities. It reflects the University’s long-standing commitment to globalization and student engagement.

GLOBE partners with the Daughters of Charity in seven different countries: Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Vietnam and Philippines. The program and associated course was officially launched in the Spring of 2009, with the first loans provided in Fall of 2009.

Don't shoot or play ? don't worry all you can eat and drink (beer and wine) right outside the tournament for $30 beginning at 12pm .

Have kids? fantastic ! Inflatable obstacle courses, face painters , balloon artists , pumpkin painting all for the kids for free. Make sure you dress them up in their Halloween costumes because the best costume will win a prize.

Don't care about any of that ? At the very LEAST come root for our boys at 3:30pm against Pace at Carnesca!

Whether you are an Alum , fan of St johns, fan of the basketball program, or just love New York come home on Sunday it's Homecoming weekend.

Unless you are sick, had something planned on this date for a while , or don't live in the tri state , or maybe something came up, there shouldn't be a reason why you aren't there.

Hope to see many of you on 10/29/23 before we take over the country . St John's forever!!!

Thanks for organizing all of this. Do you know what time the activities for kids start? Might be a good excuse to get to campus and bring my 4 year old son before he's old enough to sit through a game lol
