For those who want to talk more about last year's team/players.

My contribution is:

1. In retrospect I think Pitino was probably right that giving Jenkins the ball and a permanent green light maximized the team's chance to win games given injuries and roster limitations.

2. I still think that if Pitino had been willing to use a zone before the Xavier game he could have won another game or two since from beginning to end his guards couldn't stop anybody.

3. I also still think that he should have played Wilcher and Dunlap more for developmental purposes. But hope they both make significant advances this year.

Memorial Day will have new meaning in terms of redfan history. The Lawman Jenkins Memorial Day Mea Culpa :)

Far from it - still not a fan and very much looking forward to having a much different offensive identity this year. And some defense.

But on balance the approach of "give Daniss the ball and look the other way" did produce a decent result. I don't know if another approach would have been better.

So I give Pitino the W for using the elementary school boys basketball scheme of "give the coach's son the ball, have the biggest kid on the team set a pick, and everyone else get out of the way."

I would also add that I believe that a few more wins may have occurred had Pitino not gone to the full court pressure as often. The games where the Johnnies scored in the high 80s and 90s and lost were usually a casualty of the easy baskets off of full court pressure. He did not have the defensive big to stop the onslaught once the initial traps were broken.
