Well it’s almost halftime of the first game and I don’t hate the team yet

Even though I’m not sure we really have a secondary outside of sauce

Easy to say same old Jets but the fact is they did a lot of good things but some teams know how to win while some know how to lose. Penalties a big story and obviously, the KO fumble.
No second guess, big mistake by Glenn not kicking the EP after the penalty on the first score. Always take the points that early in the game.
BUT, I like Glenn a lot, loved him as a player. I do believe he will have success here. He knows and has not shied from the challenge, changing that losing culture.
Fact is, I like him so much I watched my first NFL game from kickoff to final whistle today in years.

Tough, tough loss. Jets probably win the game on a FG if Wilson holds on to that pass.

Unfortunately that fumble on the kickoff was a killer.

I went to the game today. If I wasn’t a Jets fan I would have said it was a great game. Really had no idea what to expect and the offense was a pleasant surprise. The defense was disappointing. Rooting for Glenn also. Hope we can continue to be competitive.

Rodger’s worked over CB Brandon Stephens all day. Jets propensity to commit penalties reared its head again.

It’s always something with this team. Woulda coulda shoulda.
As Keith says “fundies”. I learned in sandlot tackle to hold the ball on the side you are running to; kickoff returner holding the ball on his right side running left is begging for a fumble, the very late hit out of bounds and the pass interference were just very undisciplined, plays that lose games.

I have a hard time believing you played sandlot. You absolutely strike me as someone who played street tackle with broken bottles of glass in the street 😀

And I mean that as a compliment

They sucked the life out of me last season, but pretty confident they won't this year. Might be a threat to give up 30 points at any given time but they should be fun to watch at least.

Last year was such a damn slog. It was like that one Christmas night where I watched "Wonder Woman 1984" and ended the holiday on such a dreary note, except last season was like watching that POS movie 17 times.

I would have tried to turn Fields loose at the end but not something that ruined my whole day.

As a long beaten down Jets fan, I think I took yesterday’s loss harder then I expected. I am really happy to have Glenn and a new coaching staff and moving on from Rodgers was a necessity. Even if we won yesterday the playoffs were a very long shot but with Buffalo coming in next week a 1-1 start would have made the season more enjoyable.

I am a little more bummed than some of you, and that is even with expecting a 7-10 or 6-11 type season.

It was a winnable game, but we didn't make the needed plays to finish it.

The defense is what is a real shame to me. We built one of the defenses in the league under Saleh and the year we peaked as a defense was the year Rodgers hurt his achilles. The defense prime years were wasted by Zach Wilson, and now we finally have an offense that would have been able to win with the defense we had 2-3 years back.

But, of course, this defense doesn't even resemble the defense we had a few short years ago. Even the familiar faces that are still here don't seem quite at the same level. That dude Stephens doesn't even belong on an NFL field. There is just no organizational identity with this franchise. Hopefully Glenn can change that. Because we hire Saleh, focus on building the defense, but then our offense sucks. So we get Rodgers, and go "oh shit we have Aaron Rodgers now, time to build up our offense". And we spend a ton of resources on that, draft picks, trades, signings. And guess what now our defense sucks.

I agree there, they should be exciting to watch at least.
Giants were putting me to sleep.

Now, I have to be real here, I have none of your year by year perspective. I did not think the defense sucked but they made big mistakes at big times. The hit out of bounds, the 12 men on the field and the weak pass interference were all killers. Add in the fumble on the kickoff and the Jets helped the Steelers immensely in dissecting their giving up 34 points.
The defense gave up 271 yards, only 53 on the ground so it’s not like the defense got steamrolled. The Jets won yardage gained, time of possession, got 4 sacks to the Steelers 1, which all means nothing because ultimately they beat themselves. Frankly, one of those games where they were the better team until they weren’t, until winning time came.
I think Glenn can fix that.

They blew it by not grabbing Will Johnson in the second round when he was still available.

I swore that the 2025 Jets couldn’t possibly disappoint me. I figured the absolute high water mark would be .500ish. No pressure, no expectations.

Somehow, they still managed to disappoint me (and piss me off).

I went to bed consoled by the fact that the Bills were down big and the Jets would be tied for first after week 1.

And I wake up this morning to a huge Buffalo comeback against the experts’ favorite to go to the Super Bowl from the AFC.

I am already in midseason form…

Wilson was 90 percent washed a few years ago. They need to just roll with Winston.
It looks that way.

I'd roll with Winston, only time id start Dart is the last 2 or 3 games, just to get him in game experience for next year.

Sorry about that, was replying to LJSA
Back to the Jets.

It was strange to have the Jets and "Gi-aints" play at the same time; only thing could have been the NFL not wanting to go against the Men's tennis finals????
