2025-2026 Schedule

Curious if participants will play 3 or 4 games. This years event had a field of 8 play 3 games each. Next years field has expanded to 17 with the addition of Auburn. 4 games in one week in Vegas may be a logistical issue.

My preferred opponents:
Syracuse (always good to beat them)
Gonzaga, Kansas, Houston.
The field is stacked and really can’t go wrong unless we draw both Syracuse & St. Joes.

Can see organizers wanting representation from multiple conferences, but St. Joe's sticks out as inferior quality wise from all others (even Syracuse). Maybe it's their way of showing how NIL can help the little guy for good PR, without watering down entire first round

Agree, they are the odds on favorite to go home winless.

The organizers saw SJU and picked them right away. By the time they realized it wasn't St Johns they couldn't go back on it

I want to destroy St. Joe’s, pillage “SJU”, and return it to its rightful place: St. John’s University.

Rebrand SJU as "THE SJU."
No, only these two can get away with that:

For the Players Era next year, I think the best bet is to try getting it to 16 teams and then running a bracket where winners obviously move on and the losers keep playing each other after each round. 4 games in a couple days would be difficult but if they can get a whole week, should be doable

Do you volunteer to be the guy that kicks out one team? lol. I do think its sensible to get the first game going that Saturday before Thanksgiving. You can squeeze in five games as well. You can have games Saturday/Sunday/Monday/Tuesday (pool play), then semi's Thursday/Friday and championship Sunday.

I think Player's Era got put in a bad spot with auburn leaving Atlantis because there was no way they could turn down Auburn. Maybe St. Joe's will voluntarily leave but its hard to just walk away from so much NIL promised by the tourney. Would they expand to 20 teams? Might be stretching the resources thin and make for difficult scheduling

Can you imagine the chaos with NIL and guys transferring as soon as they don’t make the basketball NCAA? Players will bolt their programs as soon as they get eliminated after their conference tourneys, like we witnessed in the recent football bowl season. Mass exodus as players don’t want to play in any no name bowl games and risk getting injured for possibly getting drafted!
