2021 NIT to Feature 16 Teams / All Rounds in Dallas-Fort Worth Area

Good.

There are no automatic bids for mid major 1 bid conferences which increases our chances of receiving a bid if we win a few more games.

We should make it :)
The NIY used to be THE tournament
before the NCAAs became supreme
Bobby Knight once turned down an NCAA bid (for Army) to play in the NIT - late 1960s.
Sweet if we beat Providence and/or Seton Hall!

Hopefully we make it, but St. John's means much less to an NIT in Dallas than it would to an MSG one. Then again, if there won't be any fans, inviting a Texas team that may not have ordinarilly made it wouldn't make much sense.

You think there won't be fans in Texas? Fans are probably why they picked Texas.

Still hoping for the bigger fish, but wouldn't mind them making an appearance in Dallas, since the trip to Lubbock was canceled earlier this season.

Whether a state allows in-person attendance is not the same as NCAA wanting it. I haven't heard what the NCAA's plans are.

While I definitely want St Johns in the NCAAs, this would be a nice consolation prize since I live right next to Frsico. /media/kunena/emoticons/cheerful.png

Hey we passed on going to Texas earlier this year

One can dream /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

As a St John's fan if we end up there I fully expect some sort of power outage where arena lights work but no tv feed

Maher has ice in his veins. ;-)

Texas Governor just opened the state for 100% capacity. That's reason enough for the NIT to go there.
