2018 Big Ten Tourney to MSG

Now I am rooting against the Big Ten getting a team in the football playoffs.

There are pretty big alumni bases from Penn St and Indiana here in nyc. Probably a decent amount of OSU and NW alums to. For the rest it is an easy sell as a chance to visit NYC.

I am pretty sure Michigan has the most connected alums.

They're not going to sell out MSG with students, B1G fans and B1G alumni. Corporations will buy up most of the seats.

That being said, I'd much rather have the B1G at MSG over the ACC.

Just goes to show how trying to use MSG your main recruiting tool doesn't have the value that it used to.

On the other hand, doesn't this reinforce that MSG is still a big draw and big deal, enough so that the Big 10 wants to bring its tournament here (contrary to some views on this board over the last week or so)?

This it's a little concerning. The Big 10 and ACC, arguably the two best conferences in the country wanting to host their conference tourney in our building. The Big East better start selling out the tourney, or else MSG could start looking elsewhere

There is a very long term deal.

The ACC tourney will be at Barclays, not in our building.

Not sure what the conversation on the board was, but of course it's still a big draw.

But not one that you're going to focus your whole recruitment around because Dolan has prostituted MSG to any and every buyer with money so most conferences will trek their teams through it at some point of the year.

I think the current staff believes that out-of-state recruits just drool to have MSG as their home court.

But we're losing that battle to schools who have big time football money.

Malik Beasley for example opting to play at a mid-to-bottom feeding Florida State after touring MSG.

I realize that but I'm sure that the ACC would rather be at MSG. I think we have contact until 2026 but think it's contingent on certain number of tickets being sold. All I'm saying is that with the big ten playing a week earlier, and the ACC tourney being played at the same time as the big east tourney, this could eat into our ticket sales.
It's not something that should be ignored,
