I love it!! Being in these high profile early season tournaments is great. It's gives a good exposure and next season it will give us a chance to make some noise early with a much stronger roster.

Great tourney! May even be worth going & sitting between Beast & Jumbo Peanuts. :)

"Maybe"

I thought there were limitations about how many of these pre-season tourneys you could play in.

There used to be a rule saying that you could only play in 2 events over 4 years, but that rule is long since gone.

The only rules on the books for preseason tournaments are:

1. No more then 1 per year

and:

2. You can't play in the same tournament more then once every 4 years.

Gotcha thank you

Does that mean we couldn't revive the Lapcek tournament?

We could revive the Lapchick tournament. The rules above are only for exempted tournaments where you get to play as many as four games which count as one against your allotment of games scheduled.

Would love us to host Lapchick Tourney vs. local schools-Manhattan, Fordham, Iona, Hofstra, Stony Brook, etc.

An annual 8 team tourney format would be difficult (above teams plus Columbia and maybe Rutgers?). If it is exempt then you can't play in any of the other big tourneys with quality teams, if it isn't then you're packing in 3 of your non con games in 3 days which isn't ideal. However structuring annual games in a Big 5 format where you schedule each of the other teams in the group over the course of the season and then compare W/L at the end would be doable. But STJ has nothing to gain and everything to lose by participating. None of the locals are comparable historically with the other schools Nova plays in the Big 5.

How far in advance do they announce the brackets for these tournaments? I think avoiding Michigan State and LSU in round 1 would be ideal and I would be shocked if they gave us ODU. The rest are all doable games and I wouldnt mind seeing a matchup against Sampson and LSU.

Thanks for the feedback. Currently, could we beat Stony Brook and/or Hofstra?

This year? Probably not. But in the long run if that continues then the lack of a local tourney will be the least of our problems.

Wasn't serious - more a play on the misspell on the scoreboard of the name Lapchick
