2013 NCAA EAST REGIONALS

Is St. John's the host school or will it just be a Big East school? I heard the site is TBD due the MSG renovations and may be in Newark? Just wondering if anyone knows the real story

I believe Carnesecca Arena will be hosting the Women's regional in 2013.

Correct.

This is from Wikipedia and I believe what Redmen8091 is referring to

It has been speculated that the NCAA wants Madison Square Garden to serve as the East Regional site in 2013. (The event's official hosts would be St. John's University (New York) and the Big East Conference.) Various factors, however, including the arena's ongoing renovation, scheduling issues, the fact that MSG is the current host of the finals of the NIT, and likely a snag in negotiations have prevented the NCAA from naming a site already. [4] It is unknown when the NCAA will make the announcement. It is also unknown what venue would host in the event that MSG is not ready, or is unable to host. The Prudential Center in Newark is being considered as an alternate.

WOW. That would be some awesome stuff. I don't see how the renovations would affect something like this, being that the last phase wouldn't begin until after NHL/NBA season anyway.

I think the real question would be with the conflict with the NIT.

I'll never forget going to the first round games we hosted at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in 2001.  The atmosphere was incredible and watching #15 Holy Cross almost upset #2 Kentucky was great as almost the entire Coliseum was rooting for Kentucky. The Wildcats ended up winning 72-68.
