20 minutes from Top 20 or better

I was just looking at this teams schedule for the season and if we had played better ball for 20 minutes total over the last 26 games we would easily be a top 20 team.... not to say these were the only twenty minutes of the whole season but if things went differently in these games we could be anywhere between 20-6 and 22-4.

5 minutes in Overtime vs Penn State
the last 6 minutes vs Syracuse
the last minute of regulation or either OT vs Providence
The last two minutes vs Depaul
the last 30 seconds vs Creighton

shows how close of a difference between a top 20 team and a bubble team .....lets hope we finish out games the rest of the way and get in and get a seed that isnt 8 or 9. I would love to avoid Florida or Arizona as long as we can.

You can't forget that we barely escaped Seton Hall twice.

they escaped that is all that matters. as far as i know the Selection committee looks at wins and losses not close wins and close loses.

I think you are wrong. They look at good losses. IE a close loss to Syracuse. They look at who you played. They look at injuries. And they give emphasis to how a team has been playing down the stretch.

I am not worried about Arizona, they lost one of their top players about 10 days ago and are not the same team. We beat them handily. But I really want Cuse, I want to see them go down to us big time in the tourney

I am only worried about our march to an at large bid, which will be made immeasurably easier if we can win vs. Butler and at Villanova. On selection Sunday I will worry about opponents in our bracket should we close out strong.

With Gtown out of the way, we have absolutely no reason to worry about other teams provided that we keep winning. We hold a large degree of control over our own destiny, and that is refreshing. We can draw even with Xavier and Marquette by winning those games. We hold the tie-breakers over Marquette if we win, and in the even of a three-way tie with Xavier and Marquette, we would hold the tiebreaker there as well if we won both games. Improve to 18-9 on Tuesday and slide into the top 50 RPI (Currently 52 and in a virtual tie for 51 w/ NC State). Then a season-defining opportunity in Philadelphia awaits.

Our schedule is a thing of beauty...I know I've said it a 100 times the last six weeks, but it really is.

The schedule began three on the road and Villanova at home. It may finish favorably for us, but is part of the reason we were dug into a hole.

Me, I want to make the tournment, which is far from a lock, before I worry about who to avoid. Talk about chickens before they are hatched. As far as 20 minutes, we could have easily lost both Hall games, as has been pointed out and the 2nd Providence game. So we are also a few shots away from the season being over from a tournament point of view. We are what our record is but we are doing a tremendous job in turning it around. I usually attack these kind of posts but Harrison REALLY kept us above water when Gtown made their run in the 2nd half. You could see everyone but him get tentative on offense and we were reaching on almost every defensive possession. He took and made shots but the beauty was they were all within the offense, all with great poise. I know his performance has been talked about but as a person who has posted I think he has been over-rated on this board, fair is fair. He played a tremendous all-around game last night and all withiin the team concept.

We're 17-9 and we should probably be 20-6. As long as we keep playing good ball it wont matter.

NCAAs is all about matchups and who you draw....its a total crap shoot.

SJU will be a tough out because they have outstanding guard play and we are extremely athletic. We can be a matchup nightmare for some teams.

I would want to avoid the 8/9 spot though as that means playing a 1 seed in the "3rd Round"...of the current projected 1 seeds the only team i would feel confident going against is Wichita State.

Syracuse, Arizona and Florida are all teams that would give us all we can handle. I am not saying we couldnt win these games, but it would take a monumental effort on our part to upset one of these teams. I also thing the committee would not put us in Syracuse's region if we were an 8/9 team since we already played them this season, and they would want to avoid a rematch if a game played already in the early rounds.

Hypothetical question - if we were to win out (which would mean finish 12-6 in BE and win the BE Tournament) what seed would we get in the NCAAs?...a 4?
