August 14 will be the 1 month anniversary of Paul Massell our friend and Founder of this site passing.. We’ve been mourning his devastating loss but now we will celebrate him and Toast him for what he has done for us all and the greatness he created. . There are several ways to do this and raise that glass of beer or drink or cigar at 6pm specifically on August 14.
While normally we do the Novitá ( in Garden City ) party later and fully understand being August some are away but the party will be in 2 weeks on August 14. This has to be the day his year. . Starts at 5pm TommyO already got the back of the restaurant reserved for us. ( cash bar )
Knowing a ton of members here don’t live around here anymore Redmannorth will be organizing a first ever ( non covid ) Redfan anywhere Zoom Happy Hour Toast to Paul coinciding same time as our Novitá party so anyone who either knows each other or who wants to meet other Redfan members for the first time no matter where you live then you can join the zoom and meet your current or future friends . Redmannorth will follow up on this thread with more details on how he will be doing the Zoom Party
There will also potentially be a bigger announcement during the season but I’m working on it if it can become reality then will post it when official.
Here are the asks. At 6pm when you do your toast whether with us at Novita or on the zoom or just doing it on your own from home or local bar or whatever post your pic of your beer cigar or whatever here on the thread at 6pm when you do it. Paul’s family reads the site ( obviously since 2 of his kids are running it now ) but this is a way for us to show them we are thinking about them
Lastly and just as important if not more important. After you do that toast if you have it within your means SMASH that donate button with whatever you can. . Us all getting together last month to help Paul’s family ended up being enough to pay for Paul’s funeral. Their family was beyond grateful to us all. Whatever difference we can make this time to help them with the actual bills they have been clobbered with originally let’s show their family how much they mean to us. The fact that we are still posting here weeks after Paul passed away and that he had made arrangements with his family for this site to still be running after his death is a testament to Paul’s Greatness and Charitableness and Love for Us All
