The Redmen open the season in style, by defeating the defending national champions, in an overtime thriller. Carolina of course, had Michael Jordan, James Worthy, and Sam Perkins on that team, so this was a great way to open what would eventually be a 28-win season for our guys.

Unfortunately, the picture is not great here.

 
Worthy wasn't on that particular team. He entered the NBA Draft after the Tar Heels' championship season, which was after his junior season.
 
I have that game on VHS tape since I was there and got to see myself at the end of the game going crazy after Kevin Williams went coast to coast. Several years ago, I made a DVD copy of it and gave it to him. Always thanks me when he sees me in the Red/White room.
 
Thanks for providing the tape. I watched that game, and as impressive as the victory was, you could see that point guard was that team's one weak spot.
