14 NY colleges likely to perish: SJU on list

This is one big reason why tuition had to be raised at SJU. Our endowment can't support 15,000 full time students, and any downturn in enrollment hurts.

The economic impact of Covid are far reaching, and adversely affect colleges in many ways including athletics. Some fear a collapse of NCAA sports if revenue producing sports do not have seasons or cannot play in front of fans. That revenue helps to support all other sports, as well as staff athletic departments. Without it, universities, impacted already in other areas, will not be able to support athletics out of weakened endowments.

This is another reason why Fauci, as an important voice advocating more patience in shutdowns, cannot be the only voice. His expertise is limited to the purely best practice to obtain the optimal clinical response in slowing the pandemic. Our economy just cannot sustain shutdowns that have driven many businesses into insolvency already.

There are no easy answers, and no good answers. There are however, certain realities as a result of this deadly disease.

Too much data go through today, but I see the point on tuition increase.
