0-3 in conference

Over the last 10 days, it seems I've read how daunting a task St John's would face if it started 0-3 each day. Zags seems to write it in every article, referring to the last team to make it after such a start - Seton Hall in 1994 or so.

It got me to thinking - do teams that have lost 3 Big East games in a row go on to make the NCAAs? I didn't have to think or look that far, because it happens EACH YEAR, and often for more than one team. Not to say that you want to employ that as a strategy, but losing 3 in a row is not all that uncommon for BE teams that go on to make the tournament. It actually happened in 2010 for St John's as well. Heck, I'd argue if you're going to lose 3 in a row, better to be your first three in conference, relatively early in the conference schedule.

So ignore the reference to how bad it is to start 0-3. Losing 3 in a row for tourney teams in conference (and I only looked at the BE) is not all that rare.

Go St John's, beat DePaul (because losing 4 in a row is a different story).
