Auburn, Wed., Nov. 26, 8:00p, TruTV / 880 AM

I really hope this team comes together like others in the past, but im l am remaining skeptical with hopes I am wrong. Zuby and Bryce have been good and bad but will eventually begin working together. Dillion will be fine and may end up being the guy who has to guard the opposing PG

My main fear is Ian and Joson. They have incredible talent but they are also green. The teams that turned up the volume the last 2 years were teams laden with seniors. The guys we need to step up are all young so this year will be more difficult than the two prior.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Drink away the sorrows. I know I will.

Can’t speak for everyone and would not want to, but I believe the Darling criticisms are really frustration with the coach for putting Darling in that position. I believe every right minded person on here understands that. Just can’t come right at Pitino because then have to dodge lightning bolts on here.

But what is done is done. There is no trading deadline in college basketball yet. Though I am sure there will eventually be. Have to move forward. It is clear Darling is not the answer. So going forward they have to figure something out. The forwards are good passers, so really just need people to bring the ball into the front court, then have Zuby and Hopkins initiate the offense.
"Just can’t come right at Pitino because then have to dodge lightning bolts on here."

Hey, you can only blame the one who built this team, the coach right?

Im far from giving up on this team and season.

But the real bummer for me right now is I don’t enjoy this team. I don’t like watching them play. None of the body language is good. Nearly the entire roster is comprised of guys whose games I just don’t really enjoy. A lot of street ballers who don’t wanna play as a team.

Pitino has his work cut out for him this season
Your right ,I said that about last years team in November also. New players we have to get used to and they have to get used to playing w one another. The pg situation is going to bite us in the ass unless Pitino can pull a rabbit out of his hat.

Yes DK, Larry, and LMF that team had Arch, frosh Brunson and NBA players as role players. There are other points to make. Mainly, give a good coach time with a talented roster and they will get better. Take a look at the shooting in each of those two games. Nova went from atrocious to amazing. So much is about putting the ball in the basket. Our two best scorers yesterday were ice cold. With good looks. We are not nearly as bad as the current mood of the board is feeling today.

Beat Ole Miss by 6-10 next time out and everyone will feel great about the team again.
2024-25 Nova got off to a slow start too. Most bad to average teams do.

You lose to Michigan or Alabama at home and it’s frustrating, but you tip your cap because they are really good. Auburn sucked. They were poorly coached, they didn’t manufacture any baskets, their second best player had 3 fouls early, and they had two kids out. Pettiford was throwing up circus shots and we were killing them inside. This should have been a 20 point win.

We are obviously going to win games when we get to the disgusting Big East schedule, but how the hell are we in this spot with a top 10-15 payroll? We let two PGs walk out the door and we got smaller up front. We have more wings than a dive bar in Buffalo, but can we definitively say any of them are better two-way players than Ayo? Maybe Sellers.

What is the point of having so many wings when we have one guy that can handle the ball? When he gets hurt or in foul trouble, do we just lose? What is the contingency plan?

Why is this board obsessed with a guy who was recruited as a backup, who played 7 minutes tonight, exactly 1 of those in the 55 points scored against, outscored by 20 2nd half?
Pitino recruited and is putting out a poorly constructed, very redundant roster and might I add, poorly coached team, led by a trio of inconsistent but highly recruited and touted trio of guards who in 79 minutes tonight combined for 27 points, 3 assists, 6 TOs and 6 rebounds! A trio that can’t even keep opposing guards in front of them, even sometimes (although Sellers can, like Darling, sometimes).
So let’s ignore poor performances by those brought in and paid to perform at a high level and focus on the guy forced into a much bigger role than he was recruited for because of, dare I say it, the arrogance and hubris of a coach who insisted he could take a player with absolutely no feel for the game and make him the next great PG.
And now was forced to move his best shooting guard, coming off two hot shooting games, to PG, either because of injury or coaching choice.
Sorry but this team has much bigger problems than Darling, mainly, no chemistry and little to no mental or physical toughness and two guys who show little game other than making an occasional shot which woos some but is just not winning basketball.
Well said. They still have time to correct many of the problems. But a final four team they are not.

Many posters are grounded and just see there are more flaws on this team than anticipated. It is quite fair to worry the team is digging a hole they may not get out of re aspirations for a solid seed in the NCAA T. The BE is down a bit and imo there are not that many games to make hay with. Thus the statistical requisites for solid seeding seem a challenge for this group.

Of course there are games to be played. Beating Ole Miss at MSG & Ky in Atlanta seem essential to say the least, as well as finishing in top two in BE. I am concerned they may not have the chemistry and right pieces do this, but of course not folding my cards yet.
Not sure I would use the word grounded. But we forget how we felt last year at this time. What was said about players. Kadary was run out of town his first month. So much said about Luis. Smith was too small and couldn’t stay healthy. Last years team had its flaws and things got better.

I’m not saying it’s gonna be like last year. But I think with how things have gone in years 1 and 2 about how these Pitino teams have responded to early season slow starts I just think it’s prudent to not give up before the product is finished.

But to each his own. I know I’m usually overall optimistic but in this case there is a track record that I’m basing it on. Would I like to have more than 1 official point guard and other capable ball handlers? Yes.

I don’t think we can come to conclusions one way or another about darling. He looks capable enough to me overall. But he also didn’t play in The Alabama game and barely played yesterday due to not looking good while out there but was that because of his hamstring? And down the stretch in both games is where we lost both of these games without a primarily ball handler. Maybe if darling is in both games at the end stretch he stabilizes things as the primary ball handler.

Funny enough I think I said it about last years team in November too. I hope these guys can rally the way we did last year and play some good ball

We would be DePaul in the SEC.

I think this is nonsense. We gelled last year because we were a great team that had everyone on the same page in regards to playing team defense. Don’t know why some of you feel intent on downplaying the best season the program has had in two decades. Miserable ass fan base
Best season since Artests last year.

Don't know if this team will improve like last years team.

Besides the players, something seems much different then last years team.

Ole Miss is now the most important game of the season.
In a Packed house at MSG, really want to see how this team responds, hopefully they look much better.

IMHO, the only way the Jackson PG experiment could have succeeded would have been to throw him out there in the Quinnipiac, W&M and Bucknell games and let him take his lumps.
Maybe there’s still time to do that, in an intense practice environment, before Ole Miss. I see no other option at PG if we want to compete at an elite level.

Who was 24-25 nova coached by?

Hall averaging 21 & 9 isn’t one of their two best players? Pretty good team!

At one point in the second half during a timeout the camera quickly showed him holding his knee/leg and it looked like he was in a bit of pain. He then came into the game was blown by and again reached down to his leg, limping a bit and was subbed out.
The million dollar question is WHAT WAS PITINO THINKING?????
CRAP......put in one of the Euros but not a one-legged guard who, on his best day, couldn't compete against a Pettiford level guard!

I know Jackson’s camp felt his ticket to NBA was as a PG. I can’t believe Rick agreed, but he went along with that PT Barnum approach. He then could use him as a wing and probably thought they would land an elite PG. Well we see how that turned out.
That's mind boggling and shows the staff was reaching for straws in their miserable attempt to sign impact players. Ian Jackson and his camp shouldn't have had that level of season impacting decision making power. Somebody needs to fall on the sword for this guard conundrum! Even the most casual keyboard coaches saw this coming!!!!
