2025-2026 Season

My agreement was more the number 2 for Jackson and not necessarily Zuby most important although of course he is super important.

After watching him play I actually think Mitchel could be number 1 if he is gonna handle the ball more than initially thought as a point forward.

He looks to have such an exciting game. Even couple free throws looked good!
Don’t waver. Your original brilliance was to agree with me. Stand firm.

“The main thing is just be Ian Jackson. In the two exhibitions, I got away from being who I am. Ian Jackson will be Ian Jackson, and that’s who I’m going to be for the rest of the season.”

Makes Marillac look like a rookie with the third person usage.
I mean Ian has to be Marillac's favorite player now, right? It's gotta be a rule, you use the third person that much Marillac stans you

St. John’s Red Storm adds Starr as a New Proud Sponsor

Web Release
QUEENS, N.Y. (November 3, 2025) –
St. John’s is excited to announce that Starr, a leading global investment and insurance organization, is now an official sponsor of St. John’s Athletics. Beginning this season, the Starr logo will be prominently featured on the court for all St. John’s men’s and women’s basketball regular season games, at both Carnesecca Arena and Madison Square Garden. This partnership is part of a multi-year agreement managed by St. John’s Sports Properties.

Obviously Sanon and Ian were highly recruited guards out of high school. Fans are often influenced by the number of stars next to their names. Both guys had okay seasons in 24-25 at ASU and UNC respectively, but were not the one and done players prematurely touted.

Now you realize we lost two “grown men” & proven guards in Smith and Kadary, both seasoned defenders, one physical, the other crafty. Neither Sanon or Ian can defend at that level, but I think can help on scoring end.

Will Sanon and Ian improve defensively to a competent and consistent level? To me that is a huge question since D was our bread and butter last year and a staple most of Rick’s career. Yesterday was one game v as good a cadre of guards, but let’s be honest, our guards’ defensive performance was poor. Is this a work in progress or something we may have to live with? I’m pulling for the former.

It's been said here and elsewhere that good defense requires effort. These two guys are talented but prioritize offense. ust doesn't seem like guy who will ever be close to a dog on a bone. Jacoson especially a little too pedestrian and lackadazical so far on D.

I completely agree with your post. I’d like to add one more point about Kadary:
Not only did he play great defense, he directed the defense while on the court. He is a calculus and geometry savant. He saw all of the angles and then directed his teammates where to play. Watch isolated Kadary videos and you will be amazed.
He is a jump shot away from NBA greatness.
That’s why we lost to Arkansas and why we give up 100 points.

One more thing. Kadary was CRPs Luca Brasi. CRP needs to find his next Luca Brasi.
I’m not sure if we have one. In the meantime CRP is using Ayo.
