Watching the Met's highly anticipated season evaporate before our eyes is a sobering thought for Johnnies fans: even with a roster of highly paid stars, nothing is guaranteed.
Good news: there are still 41 games remaining.
Bad news: there are still 41 games remaining.
The Mets are 1-9 in their last 10 games, which seems impossible to comprehend.
Yet they are “only” five games out of first (Philly luckily has not run away with the division) and have a 1/2 game lead in the wildcard.
I don’t know what to think. Of all the team sports, chemistry in baseball seems the most overrated. They just have to hit with runners on base, which does not have to do much with emotion or chemistry.
Maybe we see a replica of the 2024 run, while starting in a better position than they were last season. If you think that is an absurd thought, I doubt anyone saw last season’s run happening.

Very true, though i will say, key difference for me... if anything goes wrong for the johnnies, I trust Rick Pitino to figure it out, fix it and move forward.
with this team, I don't know. The body language isn't great, the leadership doesn't seem to care much, it just kind of feels like we are going down with a whimper. I don't sense the fire in this team.
As bad as it feels right now, every day we wake up in a playoff spot, we gotta dust ourselves off and try to win the next game. Unfortunately the heart of Seattle's pitching rotation is coming to town, and they are in a tightly contested division race in their own right. There is no relief coming unless our starters can go deep into these games. Manaea has been back for several starts now, time for him to pitch like a star tonight

Except the best prediction of future behavior is past behavior and the Mets almost always suck. Pitino past behavior is that of a big time winner. Of course we could still fall far short of our sky high expectations but no way will we be the shit show the Mets have become this season.
We whiffed on the one re-signing that would have made a difference this year.
