SJU Portal Targets

Not from Trilly but staff apparently likes him. Not sure at PG, but could see backup 1/2 and some 3 (Personally doubt he would go for that but I don't know)

I would say he slots in best as a 3 that can help with some secondary ball-handling and passing. I only saw him in the Arizona game, but his motor looked pretty bad. He did fight over some screens -- which I liked -- but he gave up on a lot of plays and made a bunch of mistakes. He's strong and smooth 1 on 1 and can shoot.

For us, he'd be nice to have for like 10-15 mins of concentrated defense on stronger perimeter players. Nobody seems to want that role anymore. He could be second option for a team like Butler or Seton Hall.

might be Ian Jackson redundant, and therefore not quite a fit, but did I miss something about PJ Haggerty who portaled with a do not contact? Could he be the rabbit in the hat? the timing with Sim is awfully coincidental.

Makes more sense now as a Sim replacement and maybe someone who can play some minutes on the ball
Sorry to add to the uncertainty - I apologize if that’s the case
Just came across a sport news story saying Ian Jackson is ours!
Maybe it’s like the Dick Weiss “breaking news” tales: Bogus

So we’re now recruiting a poor man’s Sim with no familiarity with our system, less upside and less eligibility. Got it
Question was “can he run the point” and as an off guard I answered accordingly. Apparently Johnson is strong, played well at coached Akron, but have never seen him play. The fact staff apparently likes his game does not preclude getting a PG better equipped to run the point.
