SJU Portal Targets

I prefer to look at bright side. Board was divided on Kriisa, but he was a PG on two major conference teams with non-ugly stats at first glance. If we passed on him, I'll assume staff knows they can land better.

(Plus I'm ecstatic because I wasn't sold 😁)

This isn't Pitino's first rodeo. Even if you consider last year to be his first real portal rodeo, we landed good players. They just took forever to mesh.

I gave Kriisa the benefit of the doubt given his 3pt%-age and a solid A/TO ratio, but if Rick & Staff are confident they can land better I'll remain impatiently patient and wait.

Perform........as in a circus?
Would any of these "student-athletes" give up their university scholarships to help a disadvantaged student not on scholarship?
Doubt it.
The current system has turned college athletes into manipulators who game schools for monetary gains without any performance guarantees. They are vagabonds with no allegiance whatsoever to the schools, coaches or their teammates.
It breeds instability for every college basketball program.
The NCAA and schools have bit off more than they will be able to chew.
When many players in the 3rd most talented league in the country are making way more than all players in the 2nd most talented league(G league) in the country, and more than some players in the most talented league in the world(NBA), then something is seriously wrong and the system and it cannot sustain itself for very long.

Not to be confused with Jim Bad News Barnes, number one NBA pick from Texas Western. Same year Willis Reed was drafted from Grambling at number 8. Both drafted by Knicks. 1964. The beginning of the Frazier, Bradley, DeBusschere era. Oh the good old days.

I was very glad we passed on Triisa. Saw him play enough to be not sold on him at all. I will be a little disappointed if we don't get Scott though.
I am 7 hours ahead of you in Thessaloniki, Greece, but somehow I feel way behind when it comes to portal info. By the way, Lefteris is fairly well-known in Greece…and highly regarded. (Ever since I bought my new iPhone I have to sign-in every time I get on the site. Any suggestions?)

Same, and I am still using my old iPhone.

I may have missed this in the thread but am curious if there has been any mention of Jamal Mashburn Jr. as a potential transfer portal player to come here. There is an obvious connection with Coach Pitino and his father and J.M. Jr. played for Rick's son. The linked article below does not mention us in the mix but there are reasons to me that it makes some sense.

Any thoughts or information here?

Gee I hope we get on some guards’ list. Right now our backcourt consists of a freshman in Lefty and Wilcher. I sure hope there are some guards waiting in the wings cause we will need at least two, one being an impact player, just to finish close to where we finished last year.
